MVISD Career and Technical Education Program

MVISD Career & Technical Education Program is designed to prepare students for college, career and/or the workforce. CTE provides opportunities for students to participate in various programs of study and students can even earn industry-based certifications.

today we're at Castroville Elementary our students that were spotlighting are in the Career and Technical education program of study they are in their senior year this senior course we call a practicum course and that's a good play what it is it's where they apply practical application to everything they've learned the past 3 years DTE actually stands for Career and Technical education we have programs of study that the students in and to when they're going in tonight grade and they can choose like education pathway they can choose engineering pathway it's so important because it's what connects academics to Life After High School or just a directly with the teachers there going to be building lesson plans they're going to be working directly with the students students at the elementary school and the rise and Heather so happy about the future about learning I think it's really powerful it's a very nice experience to be part of watching these kids grow up and solve problems and just being part of that I feel like really just helps me as a person know that I'm doing something and it's really just packing their lives has been a good experience the teachers that I've taught with our great it's been a very beneficial learning experience I learned a lot about how to teach in the process you have to go through and everything is to learn for it so on top of what we're doing here today we for a large variety of other programs of study we have for programs within our Ag Department we have applied egg engineering which is like a welding course animal science plant science we have automotive technology instruction praise program that offers carpentry opportunities as well as masonry we have a culinary arts program and outstanding engineering program and then we also offer a health science program they get to be part of something when we think of we think of kids sitting in rows and sitting in desk when you walk into a secret you program you are not seeing that happening they are up there active they're collaborating with other students they're creating their innovating and it's real for them are the students it's a really great learning experience to have some of them they are doing exactly what they thought they wanted to do their entire life there are others when they actually start to see forcefully they say wow this is not for me and that's okay that's what we want them to know better for them to find it out here then to get into a 4-year University spend money and then realized this isn't what I wanted to get a chance you are not college-bound and actually earn history based certifications where they can graduate from high school and sometimes make really really good money without that degree because they get the certification high school if we can offer them certifications in high school just think of the possibilities

Medina Valley ISD celebrates Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month.

At Medina Valley HS, students have access to robust opportunities for career exploration through CTE programs of study that connect their area of interest with their high school education goals. Programs range from animal science to applied agricultural engineering to early learning/teaching and learning.

This month, our district recognizes the importance and accomplishments of our CTE program.
