MVISD Employee of the Month-April

Medina Valley I.S.D Castroville Elementary School teacher, Sherry Tschirhart, has been named the April “Employee of the Month.”  During the month of April, the District honors an elementary school teacher as the top employee. Ms. Tschirhart has been teaching 4th grade at MVISD for 30 years.  She currently serves as the 4th grade lead teacher and as a leader on the Campus Needs Assessment committee. Ms. Tschirhart is also an active member of the District Wide Advisory Committee, textbook adoption committees, and the campus hospitality committee. The principal for Castroville Elementary, Mr. Ken Center, said, "She is consistently looking for ways to have her students reach their fullest potential and will do whatever is necessary to make sure they are successful."

When Ms. Tschirhart was asked why she is interested in teaching, she said, "I am honored every day to work in the community and school that I grew up in and attended as a child. From a little child early on, all I ever wanted to do was teach.  I am not sure why.  My 5th grade teacher helped me know for sure.  She taught me that teachers need to be loving and compassionate, firm when necessary, and to always challenge our students to give their very best.  I wanted to be just like her."  Ms. Tschirhart was asked for words of wisdom and advice for other teachers. “My advice to teachers is to love and cherish the gift that we have been given. To me, there is no better title then being called a TEACHER.  Teaching is not easy, but there is nothing else I would ever want to do.  Every day is exciting because of the opportunities and challenges that exist. Teachers have an awesome responsibility in educating and molding today’s youth in becoming tomorrow’s leaders.  I take a lot of pride in knowing I have something to do with that." Mr. Center reaffirmed her words by stating, "Ms. Tschirhart’s desire for her students to be successful begins with holding herself accountable with high expectations so her students can reach those same high expectations she has set for them."

We are honored to have Ms. Tschirhart as a teacher representing MVISD and impacting our youth.  Congratulations Ms. Tschirhart!!!!
